Study on Utilization of Black Soldier Fly Larvae (Hermetia illucens) as Protein Substitute in the Pellet Diet of Clarias gariepenus Fingerling

Fish farming faces the challenge of high cost feeds because high-quality protein like fish meal required in food formulations. Therefore, need for alternative sources is much needed. Black soldier larvae (Hermetia illucens) are feed containing protein. BSF contain levels (42.7% dry matter; DM). diets should 32% to 45% content. it can be a substitute meal. This study was conducted investigate effect freshwater replacement with black fly (BSFLM) on growth rate Clarias gariepenus fingerling. The investigated. involved cultivation fingerling given BSFLM and commercial diet. results showed difference between weight gains C. gariepenus, which were 6.46g BSFLM, while diet 1.9g during 28 days experiments. There also no significant (p <.05) mean gain, specific (SGR), survival rate. Using as an source reduce costs aquaculture industry without changing its quality.
